This is the 56th solo album recorded by Klaus Schulze. It was recorded at a concert in Amsterdam, Netherlands on 20th September 2009, three days after the Warsaw concert featured on "Big in Europe Vol. 1". It was the third of six concerts in a short European tour.
The box set contains two CDs and two DVDs. The first DVD is a concert recording with the same music as the CDs. The second DVD is a documentary. The director James Frachon says it's the second part in a moogumentary series, but no third part was ever made.
The tracks on the first CD are a single piece of music. On the second CD the first two and the last two tracks are single pieces of music. I assume that KDM dreamt up the imaginative titles. The whole of the first CD is slow and dreamy. Lisa Gerrard's powerful voice uplifts the second two tracks. I like the way that she delays her arrival on stage. She has a natural feeling that tells her when her vocals are needed.
Similarly, Lisa comes and goes in the tracks on the second CD. The last two tracks are the concert's encore. 26 minutes is an encore worth shouting for.
My favourite track is "Hieronymous", the only fast-paced track on the album. Klaus plays an exciting Minimoog solo, backed by a simple sequencer rhythm.
As in the case of the first volume, I'll review the CDs and the DVDs in separate posts.
