Thursday Movie Picks: Snow/Winter Horror

Watch Movies TV -
Yes, I love horror. And the aesthetics of horror in the snow are amazing. Watching blood splatter across the snow is simultaneously satisfying and terrifying. I think our host, Wanderer at Wandering Through the Shelves knows this. That would would explain her picking snow/winter horror as this week's topic for Thursday Movie Picks. As appealing a subject as this is, it was a bit difficult to get off the beaten path. Let's see how I did.

My Bloody Valentine
(1981)

Think of this one as a warm up for next week's topic. Warm up, lol. Anyhoo, this classic slasher is all about the strange goings on during a winter in a coal mining town. Our masked killer is iconic. And the 2009 remake isn't half-bad, either.

Dead Snow
(2009)

Speaking of 2009, that's the year we got this little gem. It's an ode to 80s slasher flicks set in the Alps where some college kids get picked off one by one. The twist is that the ones doing the picking is a group of zombies who were actual World War II Nazis. Oh yeah, there's a sequel I have to see. (Full review)

Troll Hunter
(2010)

I'm not a huge fan of found footage flicks, but there are a few I really enjoy. This is one of them. It's about a group of college kids making a documentary about all the damage bears are doing up in the mountains and the people who hunt them. Of course, they soon discover what's really up there. Yeah, it's in the title. (Full review)
