Dortmund – VfB Stuttgart
Date: 22nd October 2022, 3:30 pm
Result: 5 – 0
I missed most of the match because I was busy with other things. I tuned in five minutes before the end of the game, when the score was already 5-0 for Dortmund. What a tragedy! At the beginning of extra time Stuttgart finally scored a goal. In German they call that a Trostpreis. But a linesman signalled a possible offside, and the referee spent over a minute consulting the video footage before disallowing the goal. So the final result remained 5-0. The only consolation for me personally is that two of Dortmund's goals were scored by an English player, 19-year-old Jude Bellingham (pictured above), a former player for Birmingham City. Stuttgart is continuing to compete in the league's cellar, as a local newspaper has described it.
